A vermilion Jaldar rug with three small güls spaced down a narrow, open field, each a stepped octagon with a small flower inside. Pointed half-güls with zigzag edges reach in from both long sides, shaping the field into linked compartments, the net that gives Jaldar its name. A wide border of linked, comb-like motifs surrounds the field, and at each end a band of large diamonds closes the design.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 61×93cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and strong colours can fade unevenly in direct sunlight.

On this rug the patterned frame takes up much of the surface, and the field becomes a narrow, glowing panel down the centre. Three small güls sit inside it, each a stepped octagon with a little flower at the heart and short arms reaching out to the sides. Pointed half-güls with zigzag edges press in from the long sides between them, so the open ground forms the linked compartments of the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name. Around the field, a wide border of linked, comb-like motifs and small diamonds builds up a rich, textured frame, and at each end a band of large diamonds closes the design. The strong contrast between the saturated centre and the softer border makes the field stand out clearly, and the silk adds a gentle sheen. It suits an entrance or a bedside.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
