A cream beige rug with a Persian-style floral medallion: a lobed central medallion with layered, scalloped outlines and a small star-flower at its heart sits in an open field, with curving vines of tulips, lilies, buds and leaves branching out above and below it. A border of alternating flower heads and stylised tulip clusters, framed by narrow guard stripes, surrounds the field.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 65×90cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

This small rug follows the layout of classic Persian city carpets, scaled down to a mat. At the centre sits a single lobed medallion with layered, scalloped outlines, a small star-flower at its heart and short pendants pointing up and down. Above and below it, curving vines grow out of a central palmette and branch into tulips, lilies, buds and leaves, drawn in soft, flowing lines rather than the stepped shapes of tribal weaving. The field around them is left mostly open, with no corner pieces, so the design feels light and graceful. A border of alternating flower heads and stylised tulip clusters, between narrow guard stripes of small leaves and beads, frames the whole composition. The silk in the pile adds a gentle sheen to the flowers. It suits an entrance or a bedside.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
