Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A sand cream Jaldar rug with three diamond güls stacked down the centre of an open field, each filled with small stars and crosses and finished with little arrow-like points at the sides. Stepped half-güls press in from both long sides between them, so the open ground zigzags around the güls and forms the net that gives Jaldar its name. A border of small octagons and crosses, framed by narrow guard stripes, surrounds the field.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 64×90cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

Three diamond güls run down the centre of this rug, each a neat, pointed lozenge filled with tiny stars, crosses and little hooked shapes, with small arrow-like tips at its sides. Between them, broad stepped half-güls press in from both long sides, so the open ground zigzags from gül to gül in a strong, rhythmic line. That zigzag ground is the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name, and because the half-güls are cut off by the border, the pattern seems to carry on beyond the rug, a device taken from Turkmen weaving. A main border of small octagons alternating with crosses frames the field, and narrow guard stripes of tiny ovals and dots finish the edges. The silk in the pile adds a soft sheen. It suits an entrance or a bedside.
