Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A camel Jaldar rug with three large güls down the centre, each a lobed outline drawn in fine line with a flower-like rosette at its heart and small leaf shapes around its edge. Pointed half-güls press in from both long sides between them, forming the net that gives Jaldar its name. A border of small blocks and stripes, framed by narrow guard stripes, surrounds the field.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 63×96cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

  • Origin: Pakistan
  • Type: Pakistani high quality, hand-knotted
  • Material: Wool and silk
  • Design: Gul (Jaldar)
  • Size: 63×96cm (2'1"×3'2") — Extra Small
  • Colour: Camel
  • SKU: ST 518300
  • One-of-a-kind: Yes

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

The güls on this rug are softer and more open than the usual solid diamonds. Each is outlined with a fine, lobed line that forms a large octagon, and inside sits a flower-like rosette with petals radiating from a small centre, ringed by little leaf shapes and hooks along the outline. Three of these güls run down the field, and between them pointed half-güls press in from both long sides, so the open ground forms the linked compartments of the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name. Because the half-güls are cut off by the border, the pattern seems to continue beyond the rug. A border of small alternating blocks and narrow guard stripes frames the field. The airy drawing keeps the design light, and the silk adds a soft sheen. It suits an entrance or a bedside.
