An antique cream Bokhara rug with twelve güls in two columns of six, each a rounded, stepped diamond with hooked, comb-like edges and a small diamond at its centre. Smaller stepped diamond güls fill the spaces between them, and half of each is cut off at the edges so the pattern seems to continue beyond the rug. A main border of octagons alternating with small four-petal flowers, framed by narrow guard stripes, surrounds the field.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool, with a soft, lustrous pile. At 74×123cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance, a bedside or a small space.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use, including busy spots like an entrance.

A light ground like this shows dark marks more than a deep ground would, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

This rug follows the classic Turkmen and Bokhara arrangement of major and minor güls repeated across an open field. Twelve major güls stand in two columns of six, each a rounded, stepped diamond outlined with small hooks like the teeth of a comb, with a little diamond at its heart. In the spaces between them sit smaller stepped diamond güls filled with a fine lattice, and along the sides and ends these minor güls are cut in half by the border, so the repeat seems to run on beyond the rug. With no bands joining the güls, the pattern feels open and orderly rather than netted. A main border of octagons alternating with small four-petal flowers, between narrow guard stripes, frames the field, and a row of small crossed motifs closes each end. It suits an entrance, a bedside or a small sitting area.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
