A sand beige Bokhara rug with a single column of five Turkmen güls running down the centre: rounded octagons divided into quarters by a cross, each quarter holding small hooked figures. Stepped half-güls line both long sides, and a band of diamond lattice closes each end.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool, with a soft, lustrous pile and a narrow border of small diamonds and dots. At 63×87cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use, including busy spots like an entrance.

A light ground like this shows dark marks more than a deep ground would, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

This is the classic Bokhara layout in miniature. A single column of five güls runs down the centre of the field. Each gül is a rounded octagon divided into four quarters by a cross, and each quarter holds small hooked figures, the signature motif of Turkmen weaving. Along both long sides, stepped half-güls are cut off by the border, which shows that the pattern is imagined as continuing beyond the edge of the rug. At each end, a band of fine diamond lattice closes the field, and several narrow stripes of small diamonds and dots frame the whole design. The drawing is crisp and regular, so even at this small size the pattern reads clearly. It suits an entrance, a bedside or any small space that needs a neat, traditional accent.
