Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A wheat gold Jaldar rug with five layered diamond güls down the centre of the field, each built from nested diamonds with a small dotted centre and short arrow-like points around the edge. Stepped half-güls press in from both long sides between them, forming the net that gives Jaldar its name. A border of small diamonds and rosettes between narrow guard stripes, and an end band of small hooked motifs, frame the design. A woven signature appears in one corner.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool, with a soft, lustrous pile. At 79×117cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance, a bedside or a small space.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use, including busy spots like an entrance.

A light ground like this shows dark marks more than a deep ground would, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

Five layered diamond güls run down the centre of this rug, each built from several nested diamonds around a small dotted heart, with short arrow-like points ringing the outer edge. Between them, stepped half-güls press in from both long sides, and the open ground left between these shapes forms the linked compartments of the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name. Because the half-güls are cut off by the border, the pattern seems to continue beyond the rug, a device taken from Turkmen weaving. A border of small diamonds and rosettes, between narrow guard stripes, frames the field, and an end band of small hooked motifs closes the design. In one corner the weaver has knotted a signature in script, a personal mark that makes the piece all the more individual. It suits an entrance, a bedside or a small sitting area.
