A sand cream Jaldar rug with three diamond güls stacked down the centre, each a layered lozenge holding a small stepped motif, with tiny arrow-like points at its sides. Broad stepped half-güls filled with small diamonds press in from both long sides, so the open ground zigzags from gül to gül and forms the net that gives Jaldar its name. A border of small octagons, framed by narrow guard stripes, surrounds the field.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool, with a soft, lustrous pile. At 66×90cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use, including busy spots like an entrance.

A light ground like this shows dark marks more than a deep ground would, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

The strongest feature of this rug is its zigzag ground. Three diamond güls sit down the centre, each a layered lozenge with a small stepped motif inside and tiny arrow-like points at its sides, and between them broad stepped half-güls, filled with small diamonds, press in from both long sides. The open ground left between these shapes runs from gül to gül in a bold zigzag, the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name. Because the half-güls are cut off by the border, the pattern seems to carry on beyond the rug, a device taken from Turkmen weaving. A border of small octagons in a steady chain, framed by narrow guard stripes of dots and tiny diamonds, closes the design. The light ground keeps the busy pattern feeling airy. It suits an entrance or a bedside.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
