A deep wine red field carrying a dense grid of Turkmen güls in cream, salmon, navy and near-black — four columns across and thirteen rows down — with small stepped devices standing between them. Wide multi-band borders of hooked repeats, diamond diaper and star-güls in cream, red and navy frame the field, closing at each end with a broad panel of large palmettes. Cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool to the 9/18 quality — nine knots per inch across, eighteen down, so the grid is twice as fine vertically as horizontally. At 152×238cm this is a medium room rug, suited to a living room, a bedroom or under a smaller dining table. A deep red ground is among the most forgiving colours a rug can have.
