Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

An ivory field with no medallion at all — instead a continuous scrolling arabesque running edge to edge, hung with palmettes, small rosettes and curled leaves in blue, brown, wine and sage. The drawing is mirrored on both axes, so the pattern reads as ordered rather than scattered despite having no centre. A cream main border of the same arabesque frames it, drawn at a larger scale, with several narrow blue guard stripes and cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The palette is held to five or six colours, which is the Nain discipline: with little variety available the design has to carry itself on drawing, and the arabesque is drawn finer than the palmettes it supports. At 204×313cm this is a large room rug, big enough for a full seating group or a dining table with chairs pulled out. The ivory ground is elegant but unforgiving — it will show traffic and spills more readily than a red or blue Nain would.

This is a fine, hand-knotted piece that rewards a little extra care. 100% wool pile with a natural fringe at both ends.

The ivory ground will show traffic and spills far more readily than a dark rug would, and at this size much of it sits in open floor rather than under furniture. A fine pile also crushes under furniture legs more readily than a coarse one, so a rug pad matters here.

Removing the medallion is a harder decision than it looks. A medallion tells the eye where to go and gives the weaver a fixed point to measure everything else against; without one, the field has to hold itself together by internal logic alone. The logic here is mirroring. The drawing is reflected down the long axis and again across the short one, so every scroll has three counterparts, and that hidden symmetry is what stops an all-over field reading as wallpaper. Find a distinctive curled leaf near the centre and the other three sit exactly where you expect. The second thing is the hierarchy of line. The arabesque — the abstract scrolling stem — is drawn noticeably finer than the palmettes and rosettes it carries, so the scroll reads as structure and the flowers as incident. That is a Nain habit specifically, and it is why a Nain looks calm at a distance and complicated up close rather than the other way round.
