Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

An indigo Nain rug in the classic medallion-and-corners layout. At the centre sits an eight-pointed star medallion with a rosette at its heart, set inside a lobed surround with small pendants above and below. Four large corner pieces answer the medallion, and the ground between is filled with Shah Abbasi palmettes, blossoms and scrolling vines, mirrored with great precision. A wide border of palmettes alternating with curling split leaves, between slim guard stripes of small flowers, completes the design.

Hand-knotted in Nain, central Iran, in fine wool. At 190×303cm (about 3 tatami) this is a large rug, well suited to a living room, a dining room or a bedroom.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Nain, Iran. Fine wool is naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a gentle sheen and a natural resistance to everyday dirt.

A deep, rich ground like this hides everyday marks well, but strong colours can fade unevenly in direct sunlight, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

The rugs of Nain, woven in the old desert city of the same name in central Iran, are counted among the finest Persian rugs, admired for their dense, precise knotting and graceful drawing. This piece follows the classic Nain medallion-and-corners layout. At the centre sits an eight-pointed star medallion with a rosette at its heart, set inside a lobed surround, with small pendants reaching up and down the field. Four large corner pieces answer the medallion, and the ground between them is filled with Shah Abbasi palmettes, blossoms and scrolling vines, mirrored with great precision. A wide border of palmettes alternating with curling split leaves, set between slim guard stripes of small flowers, frames the whole. The indigo ground gives the fine drawing real depth and makes the medallion and corners stand out. A large rug like this makes a quiet centrepiece for a living room, a dining room or a bedroom.
