A deep wine-red field glows beneath a dense, all-over garden of flowers on this rug. Scrolling vines, palmettes and blossoms in cream, gold, soft green, navy and salmon cover the ground from edge to edge, gathered loosely around a small navy floral medallion at the centre. The effect is lush and immersive — a field so full of bloom that the eye is drawn in everywhere at once.

Framing the garden is a wide, deep-navy border, a stately run of palmettes and flowering vine in cream, gold, green and red that anchors the warmth of the field with cool depth. Cream-and-gold guard stripes and a red outer edge complete the frame. The pairing of a red field with a navy border is the most classic of Persian combinations, each colour making the other richer.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan with the fine Persian double knot, the rug is woven in pure wool on a cotton foundation — the pile dense and even, the floral detail exceptionally crisp, finished with a hand-tied ivory fringe. Warm, traditional and substantial, it grounds a living room, dining room or study with timeless colour and pattern. As a hand-knotted original, it is genuinely one of a kind. Some Persian rugs forgo a dominant medallion in favour of a densely flowering field, where blossoms, palmettes and vines cover the ground from border to border. Here a small medallion floats almost modestly within the bloom, while a deep red ground and navy border give the design its classical depth.
