Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

Two columns of Turkmen güls — the octagonal elephant-foot medallions of Bokhara weaving — rest on a glowing amber-gold field, each quartered in deep red, indigo, cream and black, with small starry motifs set between the rows. The warm gold ground gives the whole rug an unusually rich, luminous character.

A run of finely drawn guard borders in gold, indigo and cream — diamonds, hooked motifs and running vines — frames the field, closing at the base into a banded panel of latch-hook lattice. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with warm, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the gold field carries a gentle abrash, and every medallion is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

The Bokhara takes its name from the Central Asian market city of Bukhara, where Turkmen tribes traded rugs set with rows of güls — quartered octagonal medallions. This one trades the usual deep red for a warm amber-gold ground, the güls picked out in red, indigo and cream and framed by finely drawn gold borders. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from natural-dyed highland wool, every medallion is worked by hand — the fingerprint of a one-of-a-kind piece.
