Each interlocking ring frames dense arabesque and floral tracery, with small lapis-blue diamonds and gold cartouches punctuating the centre — a design that recalls the tilework of a Persian mosque.
What makes the rug sing is its colour contrast. The dark, gold-laced field is framed by a vivid electric-blue ground and a warm rust-copper border of cartouches, with ivory guard stripes drawing crisp lines between them. Lapis blue is the rug’s signature — bold and luminous — lifted by gold, copper, and touches of rose and green in the floral work.
