Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

Formal and architectural, this rug is woven with an all-over lattice of large interlocking circles and quatrefoils, each filled with split-leaf arabesques and palmettes. The muddy camel-brown tracery of the lattice and the wide camel border are the colours that catch the eye first, drawn over a deep black ground that quietly anchors the whole design.

Within the lattice, fine arabesque scrollwork in camel, tan, and ivory is lit by small green-diamond centres and rust-red blossoms, giving the muted palette flashes of life. A broad muddy-camel border of palmettes and vines, framed by navy guard bands, repeats the field colours and gives the rug a calm, grounded, almost antique character.

Hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with the tight double knot, the rug shows the high knot density and controlled drawing of a fine city-style weave. Its muted camel-and-navy palette is warm and understated — a sophisticated choice for a living room, dining room, or study. As a one-of-a-kind handmade piece, no other rug shares its exact colours, drawing, or character. Woven with the persian double knot.

All-over arabesque-lattice designs descend from the great medallion carpets of the Safavid era, where interlocking circles and split-leaf arabesques covered the field in place of a single central medallion. The repeating, architectural rhythm gives the rug a calm, ordered presence.

Worked here in muted camel and ivory over a deep navy ground, the design trades bright colour for quiet sophistication. Rewoven by hand in Pakistan in fine wool, its small irregularities are the signature of the weaver’s hand, not flaws.
