A crimson field carrying a very dense grid of small Turkmen güls, each outlined in a deeper madder and filled with rose and dark red, eleven columns across and better than twenty-six rows down. Deep multi-band borders frame the field on all four sides, running rosette cartouches, hooked repeats and fine chequered guards, and closing at both ends in a broad panel. Ivory fringe.
Hand-knotted in hand-spun wool. The gül lattice measures 14.02cm across by 9.24cm down, so the emblems are packed half again as tightly down the rug as across it. The colour is exceptionally deep throughout, the ground alone measuring 0.83 on the nought-to-one saturation scale. At 255×349cm this is a large room rug, suited to a formal living or dining room.
