A bright red field carrying a single column of flattened Turkmen güls, closely packed so that only a narrow band of red shows between one and the next, each drawn in tangerine orange, cream and black. Small pointed devices stand between them at the field edges. Wide multi-band borders of star-güls and hooked repeats in orange and cream frame the field, and a bold end panel of large diamonds in cream, orange and grey closes the rug. Cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool. The light accent here is a true saturated orange rather than the apricot or salmon usually seen on this weave, which on a red ground makes for an unusually hot rug — measured across the whole surface, barely one per cent of it is cooler than neutral. At 64×177cm this is a small rug, suited to a bedside, an entrance or a galley kitchen.
