Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A camel Jaldar rug with five stepped diamond güls down the centre of the field, each layered around a small octagon with a rosette inside. Pointed half-güls with matching centres press in from both long sides between them, forming the net that gives Jaldar its name. A border of hourglass motifs and small diamonds, a sawtooth edge on both sides of the border, and narrow end bands frame the design.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 80×125cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance, a bedside or a small space.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

Five stepped diamond güls run down the centre of this rug, each built in layers around a small octagon holding a rosette, so the motif seems to step outward from its heart. Between them, pointed half-güls with the same octagon centres press in from both long sides, and the open ground left between the shapes forms the linked compartments of the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name. Because the half-güls are cut off by the border, the pattern seems to carry on beyond the rug, a device taken from Turkmen weaving. The border is bold: a band of hourglass motifs and small diamonds is edged with a sawtooth line on both sides, and a narrow band closes each end beyond a plain strip of ground. The silk in the pile adds a soft sheen. It suits an entrance, a bedside or a small sitting area.
