Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A wheat gold Jaldar rug with three diamond güls down the centre of the field, each divided by a cross into four small lozenges, with stepped, hooked edges and little arrow-like tips at the sides. Squared half-güls press in from both long sides between them, forming the net that gives Jaldar its name. A main border of linked octagons and small crosses frames the field, and a band of small diamonds closes each end.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool and silk, with a soft sheen that catches the light. At 63×96cm this is an extra small rug, a good size for an entrance or beside a bed.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. The wool gives strength and body, and the silk adds a soft sheen to the pile.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

Three diamond güls run down the open field of this rug, and each is divided by a cross into four small lozenges, like a window with four panes, framed by stepped, hooked edges and small arrow-like tips at the sides. Between the güls, squared half-güls with stepped outlines press in from both long sides, so the open ground forms the linked compartments of the jaal, or net, that gives Jaldar its name. Because the half-güls are cut off by the border, the pattern seems to continue beyond the rug, a device taken from Turkmen weaving. A main border of linked octagons and small crosses frames the field with a steady, chain-like rhythm, and a band of small diamonds closes each end. The silk in the pile adds a soft sheen. It suits an entrance or a bedside.
