Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A dusty blue-grey field carrying a single column of large octagonal güls, each outlined in dusty rose and near-black and holding a stepped cross-medallion at its centre. The güls are not filled: their grounds are the same blue-grey as the field around them. Small hooked motifs stand at both field edges. Wide multi-band borders of diamond diaper in rose, blue-grey, cream and black frame the field, closing at each end with a broad panel of the same drawing at larger scale. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The güls exist as outline only — sample the wool inside one and the wool of the open field beside it and they are the same colour. At 79×297cm this is a runner for a hallway or a landing. A mid-toned blue-grey ground is reasonably forgiving of everyday marks, though the cream in the borders will show wear first.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

A mid-toned blue-grey ground sits between the extremes — it hides everyday marks better than a pale rug but not as well as a dark one. Because the field and the gül interiors are one continuous colour, any mark or crushed patch reads across a much larger uninterrupted area than it would on a rug with filled güls, so a rug pad matters more here than usual.

The medallions on this rug are filled with a dusty rose, and the field around them is a dusty blue-grey. Two clearly different colours — and yet measured for brightness they are almost the same. The blue reads at about 150 on a scale to 255; the rose at about 147. Three points apart, which is to say indistinguishable. The two colours differ in hue by a great deal and in lightness by almost nothing.

That is an unusual thing to do and it has a specific effect. Most drawing separates from its ground by being lighter or darker, and the eye locks onto that difference instantly. When two colours match in lightness, the edge between them has no tonal step to sit on, so it never quite settles — the boundary looks softer than a drawn line should, and the medallions seem to float rather than sit. Photograph this rug in black and white and the pattern would very nearly disappear. In colour it is perfectly legible. The stepped hooked outline in near-black is what rescues it: without that dark contour holding the shape, there would be almost nothing for the eye to catch.
