A rose Jaldar rug with two large stepped diamond güls, one above the other, each with a serrated outline and a quartered centre of small rosettes. Stepped half-diamonds enter from the long sides around the güls and from the four corners, so the field reads as one continuous net. A wide main border of diamond lozenges with small cross centres, flanked by narrow guard stripes of tiny geometric repeats, frames the design, with fringe at both ends.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use, including busy spots like an entrance.

A soft, mid-toned ground like this hides everyday marks well, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

Jaldar rugs are woven in Pakistan in the Turkmen tradition, close cousins of the Bokhara but drawn around diamonds rather than oval güls; the name comes from the net-like lattice that links the compartments. This small, almost square piece is the simplest form of the design: two large stepped diamond güls, one above the other, each with a serrated outline and a quartered centre of small rosettes. Stepped half-diamonds enter from the long sides and from the four corners, so even with only two güls the field reads as one continuous net, and because the half-güls are cut off by the border the pattern seems to carry on beyond the rug. A wide main border of diamond lozenges with small cross centres, flanked by narrow guard stripes of tiny geometric repeats, frames the whole, and the pile is finished with fringe at both ends. The rose ground gives the crisp geometry a soft, gentle warmth. A rug of this size is made for an entrance, a bedside or any small space that wants a touch of pattern underfoot.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
