Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

Deep, warm, and richly formal, this rug centres a glowing floral medallion on an unusually dark espresso-brown field. Around the medallion, the brown ground is filled edge to edge with palmettes, blossoms, and scrolling vines in gold, camel, sage, and rust — a dense garden that seems to smoulder against the dark background.

A wide camel-gold border of palmettes and vines, scattered with green, red, and ivory, frames the field and balances the deep brown ground with warmth and light. The pairing of dark brown and gold gives the classic medallion design a grounded, almost antique richness, while the small multi-colour accents keep the floral work lively up close.

Hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with the tight double knot, the rug shows the high knot density and refined, controlled drawing of a fine city-style weave. Its dark brown-and-gold palette is warm and grounding, a natural anchor for a formal living room, dining room, or study. As a one-of-a-kind handmade piece, no other rug shares its exact colours, drawing, or character. Woven with the persian double knot.

The central-medallion design — a single ornate medallion at the heart of a flowering field, framed by floral borders — is the most celebrated layout in the Persian tradition, perfected in cities such as Kashan and Tabriz. It represents the formal paradise garden, ordered around a central pool or bloom.

Setting this classical design on a dark espresso-brown ground, rather than the usual red or ivory, is an unusual and sophisticated choice that gives the rug a deep, antique warmth. Rewoven by hand in Pakistan in fine wool, its small irregularities are the signature of the weaver’s hand, not flaws.
