Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A hand-woven kilim from Afghanistan, made in 100% hand-spun wool. The tobacco-brown field is filled corner to corner with a diamond lattice, every compartment holding its own small floral device in camel, rose, slate blue, green and ivory, so no part of the ground is left plain.

Rather than one wide border the field is framed by more than a dozen narrow bands, each carrying a different small repeat — zigzags, combs, rosettes and stars — worked in soumak embroidery that stands slightly proud of the flat-woven ground. Being a flatweave it is thin, light and reversible. A one-of-a-kind piece.

Care instructions

  • Always use a rug pad underneath — a flatweave slips easily without one.
  • Vacuum gently with the beater bar off, working along the bands rather than across them.
  • Turn the kilim over every year — it is reversible and wears evenly if used both sides.
  • Blot spills immediately, working from the outside in.
  • Have the kilim professionally cleaned when needed — never machine wash.

There is no medallion here and no single wide border — the whole rug is built from repetition at two scales. The field is a diamond lattice worked corner to corner, each compartment given its own small flower so that the pattern never quite settles into a grid, and the frame is more than a dozen narrow bands rather than one broad one, each carrying a different repeat. The weave itself is textured, worked in a soumak-influenced technique that leaves the banding standing slightly proud of the ground, so the rug catches light in relief as well as in colour. The palette stays close to the wool's own tones — tobacco, camel and cream — with rose, slate blue and green appearing only inside the diamonds.
