An ivory field carrying a scrolling vine hung with large lotus palmettes in soft blue and teal, smaller rosettes in rose and gold, and curled brown leaves. At the centre a lobed medallion in salmon rose, with pendants reaching to either end and four matching corner spandrels; the same salmon fills the wide main border, where it carries a procession of palmettes and rosettes framed by dark guard bands. Red selvedge, cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in silk at 30/30 quality — 30 knots to the inch in each direction, about 900 to the square inch and something over 1.4 million knots in this rug. The pile carries a directional sheen, so from one end the ivory warms and the salmon deepens, and from the other the ground cools while the blue lotus flowers lift instead. At 79×128cm this suits a bedside, an entry or a spot beside a chair. The ivory ground is unforgiving of spills, so keep it away from where food and drink are handled. Woven at 30/30 (approx. 900 knots per square inch).
