Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

This rug forgoes a central medallion in favour of an all-over design: a deep black field covered from edge to edge with a flowing lattice of shah-abbasi palmettes, curling vines and large open blossoms. Worked in warm gold, tan, brown, cream and touches of soft green, the pattern turns the dark ground into a continuous, glowing garden in which the eye is free to wander anywhere it pleases.

A broad gold-and-camel border frames the field, its procession of floral palmettes echoing the colours within and softening the drama of the black ground. Fine gold guard stripes and a black outer edge complete the composition. Because the design repeats rather than centring on one motif, the rug feels calm and balanced from every direction — equally at home whichever way it is turned.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan with the fine Persian double knot, the rug is woven in pure wool on a cotton foundation — the pile dense and even, the floral detail crisp throughout, finished with a hand-tied ivory fringe. The black-and-gold palette is both dramatic and warm, suiting a living room, study or bedroom and pairing easily with antique or contemporary furnishings. As a hand-knotted original, it is genuinely one of a kind. Woven with the persian double knot.

The all-over floral design fills the field with a repeating lattice of palmettes, blossoms and scrolling vines rather than focusing on a single medallion. Rooted in the shah-abbasi style named for the great patron Shah Abbas, it is one of the most enduring patterns of Persian weaving, prized for its sense of an endless, ordered garden.

Set against a black ground, the gold and earth-toned blossoms gain a luminous, almost lacquered quality, giving the classical pattern a dramatic, contemporary presence. Rewoven by hand in Pakistan in pure wool, the rug's small irregularities of line and colour are the signature of the weaver's hand, not flaws — the mark of a true one-of-a-kind piece.
