Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A deep teal-green field carrying a pole of ten medallions in strict alternation: an ivory eight-pointed star filled with blue and tan florals, then a solid navy rosette with a small ivory-and-red centre, then the star again, unbroken from one end to the other. Cream cusped scrolls frame each navy medallion, and a fine ivory arabesque curls through the field between them with small floral sprays in the gaps. The ivory main border carries a flowering vine in navy, tan and pale blue, punctuated by deep maroon cartouches that also appear along the field edges, and cream fringe finishes both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The palette is held to about seven colours, which is the Nain discipline — with so little variety available the design has to carry itself on drawing alone, and the arabesque is deliberately drawn finer than the florals it surrounds. A green ground is uncommon in Nain work and this is a saturated one; it will set the tone of a hallway rather than sit quietly in it. At 99×435cm this is an exceptionally long runner, well over four metres, so measure the corridor carefully before committing.

This is a fine, hand-knotted piece that rewards a little extra care. 100% wool pile with a natural fringe at both ends, worked at a knot count fine enough to hold Nain arabesque drawing cleanly.

Green is among the least light-fast of the traditional dye families, and on a ground this saturated any fading will show clearly rather than softening the whole. Keep it well away from a sunny window. A runner takes concentrated wear down its centre line, so use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

Count the medallions and the discipline of the design becomes obvious. There are ten, and they alternate without a single break: ivory star, navy rosette, ivory star, navy rosette, the whole length of the rug. That perfect sequence over four and a half metres is what a squared paper cartoon buys you — a weaver composing at the loom could not hold it. The two forms are opposites in construction as well as shape. The star is a pale outline filled with small blue and tan flowers, so it reads as light with detail inside it; the navy rosette is a solid mass of colour with only a small ivory and red centre, so it reads as weight. Alternating light and heavy down a pole gives the eye a rhythm that a single repeated medallion cannot. Around them, two drawing systems are laid over one another: islimi, the abstract split-leaf arabesque that spirals and rejoins without ever becoming a flower, and khataei, the floral vocabulary. On this rug the islimi is drawn noticeably finer than the khataei it surrounds, which is the Nain habit — scroll as structure, flowers as incident.
