A pale salmon field carrying a single column of Turkmen güls down the centre line — sixteen of them, each quartered and filled with small hooked devices in espresso, cream and gold. Small floral sprays stand between them and along the sides, and the framing is deep for a runner: several narrow guard bands of diamonds and dogtooth, with a broad end panel of stepped forms. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The pale ground is unusual for this weave, which normally runs red or camel, and it lightens the whole effect — the güls read as dark marks on a pale field rather than as bright emblems on a dark one. At 79×299cm this is a runner for a hallway or a landing. A pale ground will show traffic more readily than a red Bokhara would, so it suits a considered corridor rather than a working one.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot.

The pale ground is the thing to be aware of. Most of this rug is open salmon field with no pattern to disguise a mark, and a corridor concentrates traffic down the centre line where the güls sit. Use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

One column of güls is the narrowest a Bokhara can go, and it changes what the design is. A field of güls in five or six columns reads as a repeating surface, a texture you take in whole; reduce it to a single file and the emblems stop being a pattern and become a sequence — sixteen separate shapes strung down the middle of the rug like beads on a thread. Walking a corridor you pass them one at a time. That is a different experience from a wide rug, and it is the reason single-column runners are worth seeking out rather than treating as a narrow version of something else. The ground colour compounds it. Bokharas are usually woven on red or camel, and against those the cream and gold of the güls advance. Here the field is a pale salmon and the güls are dark, so the relationship inverts: they read as marks on paper rather than as lights in a dark field.
