Sage Green and Brown Dot-Grid, Hand-Knotted Wool Rug
Only one available — one-of-a-kind.
A deep sage green field scattered with small stepped diamonds in terracotta and black, set in an offset grid so that each row falls between the two above and below it. A narrow border repeats the same diamond at slightly larger scale, bounded by fine rust lines, and the same motif runs as a single row across each end. Cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool. This is a dot-grid design: no medallion, no gül, no border scenes — the whole rug is one plain green ground with a small motif repeated across it, and measured across the field the ornament covers under twelve per cent of the surface. At 62×90cm this is a small mat, suited to a bedside, a bathroom door or a hallway.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. At this size the rug is light enough to lift and shake out, which is the easiest way to keep it clean.
Because the field is very nearly plain, this rug is less forgiving than a patterned one. Footmarks, vacuum tracks and crushed pile all show clearly across an open ground with no drawing to break them up, and any mark sits on show rather than disappearing into a repeat. The soft tonal banding in the green is abrash and is permanent — it will not even out with cleaning or wear.
Almost nothing happens on this rug, and that is the point of it. There is no medallion, no gül, no procession of borders — just a plain green ground with one small stepped diamond repeated across it in an offset grid, each row sitting between the two either side of it rather than lining up with them. Measured across the field, the ornament accounts for under twelve per cent of the surface. The remaining eighty-eight per cent is wool and nothing else.
That puts all the weight on the wool itself, which is why this kind of rug is harder to bring off than a busy one. A dense pattern hides a great deal — variation in the yarn, a slightly uneven line, a knot count that drifts. Here there is nowhere for any of that to go: the ground is the design, so every irregularity in the green is visible, and the soft mottling you can see across it is abrash, the natural variation between small dye lots of hand-spun yarn. On a plain rug that is not a flaw but the main event — it is what stops the field reading as flat machine-made colour.
