Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A saffron orange field, left completely bare, enclosed by very wide multi-band borders worked in rose, pink, cream, navy and green — stepped diamonds, hooked devices, star rosettes and reciprocal bands, stacked five deep on every side. There is no medallion, no repeat and no motif of any kind inside the field. Soft horizontal banding runs through the saffron. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The borders take up almost half the width of the rug and carry the entire design; measured across the field, ornament accounts for well under one per cent of the surface. At 78×219cm this is a runner, suited to a hallway or a landing. A strong saffron ground is reasonably forgiving of everyday marks.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

A strong saffron ground hides everyday marks reasonably well, but because the field is entirely plain there is no pattern to break up vacuum tracks, footmarks or crushed pile — all of those read more clearly here than they would on a drawn field. The horizontal banding in the saffron is abrash and is permanent; it will not even out with cleaning or wear.

Most rugs put their design in the field and use the borders to frame it. This one does the reverse. Measured across three points down its length, the borders take 48 to 49 per cent of the rug's width — almost exactly half — and every motif on the piece is inside them, stacked five bands deep on each side. The field they enclose is not sparsely patterned; it is empty. Ornament there accounts for under one per cent of the surface, and that one per cent is shadow and colour variation rather than drawing.

The consequence is that the saffron has to carry the whole middle of the rug on its own, and what it offers is abrash. The soft horizontal banding across the field is the natural variation between small dye lots of hand-spun yarn, and you can tell it apart from a trick of the light by how it behaves: the tone moves up and down irregularly along the length rather than sliding smoothly one way, and the variation along the rug is about twice what it is across it — which is exactly what happens when the dye lot changes as the weaving climbs the loom. On a plain field that is not a flaw to be forgiven but the only thing there is to look at.
