Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A red field carrying a pole of lobed rosette medallions down its length, each worked in ivory, pale blue and sage with a small green centre, linked by scrolling arabesque and set among palmettes, curled leaves and small blossoms. The drawing is fine and the palette restricted in the way a Nain always is — red ground, light blue, ivory, sage and navy, with almost nothing else admitted. A wide navy main border of flowering vine frames it, with pale blue and ivory guard stripes, a red selvedge and cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. Nain drawing depends on a very fine knot count: the arabesques are hair-thin and have to hold an unbroken curve across the whole length of the rug, and the medallions sit inside outlines only a knot or two wide. At 88×438cm this is an exceptionally long runner — nearly four and a half metres — so measure the corridor carefully before committing, since very few hallways take a rug this length. A mid-red ground is practical underfoot and hides everyday marks better than the ivory Nains do.

This is a fine, hand-knotted piece that rewards a little extra care. 100% wool pile with a natural fringe at both ends, worked at a knot count fine enough to hold Nain arabesque drawing cleanly.

The red ground hides everyday marks better than a pale Nain would, though the ivory and pale blue elements will show soiling. A runner takes concentrated wear down its centre line, and at this length that wear is spread over a lot of rug — a pad and regular rotation matter accordingly.

Nain weaving is defined by restraint rather than variety. The palette here runs to five colours and stops — red ground, pale blue, ivory, sage green and navy — where a Kazak of the same size might use fifteen. That restriction is the point: with so few colours the design has to carry itself on drawing alone, which is why the arabesques are drawn so fine and why the knot count has to be high enough to hold them. Follow one of the pale scrolling lines with a finger and it will run unbroken past several medallions before it closes, never stepping, never thickening. Doing that over four and a half metres is the real difficulty of a runner in this style: a single knot of drift accumulates into a visible wobble by the far end, and there is no busy palette to hide it in. Note too that the medallions are linked rather than free-standing — the arabesque passes through each one, so the pole reads as a single continuous stem rather than a row of separate ornaments.
