A light peach field carrying four diamond güls in a single column, each with a stepped outline ringed by small black and red crosses and a small star at its centre. Between the güls, a single dotted line of small beads runs across the field to nested chevrons of grey-blue, pink and black that reach in from both sides. Borders of alternating pink and grey-blue lozenges and small pink bars run on all four sides, with a band of looped hooked arches at each end, closed by a plain peach outer band and ivory fringe.

Hand-knotted in wool. The lattice that separates the güls is drawn as nothing more than a row of dots, so the four güls sit in one open peach field rather than in closed compartments. At 79×114cm this is an extra small rug — a doorway, bedside or small hallway piece.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan, with ivory fringe at both ends. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the dense pile of a Jaldar is made for everyday floor use.

The light peach field is largely open between the güls, so it will show marks and pile shading more readily than a red or dark rug — it looks lighter or darker depending on which way the pile has been brushed. It is best where shoes come off rather than straight in from outside.

A Jaldar is built on a net, and most weavers draw that net as solid bands that close each gül into its own compartment. This rug keeps the net but lightens it almost to nothing. Look between any two güls: instead of a band, there is a single row of small dots running across the field, like a string of beads, meeting nested chevrons at each side. The structure is still there — you can trace every division of the lattice — but it no longer boxes the güls in. The result is a field that reads as one open expanse of peach with four güls floating down it, held in place by the chevrons at the edges rather than by walls between them. It is the lightest way to draw a Jaldar, and it suits the soft colour of the ground.
