Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

This Ghazni rug is woven in a lively multicoloured palette, with an all-over arrangement of small tribal motifs and soft blocks of colour that give it a relaxed, folk-art character. A hand-spun blend of wool and silk lends the surface a gentle, luminous sheen that shifts with the light.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan on a cotton foundation, the thick, tactile pile is typical of fine Ghazni weaving, while the silk highlights catch the eye across the field. The natural fibres and hand-dyed colours, with their gentle abrash, mark it as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.

Material: a hand-spun blend of Afghan wool and natural silk. The wool gives softness, warmth and a natural resistance to everyday dirt, while the silk adds a luminous sheen and brings out the finer detail of the design.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum gently on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colours and the silk sheen.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner experienced with silk for any deep clean; do not machine wash.
  • Light shedding is normal at first and settles within the first few months.

The Gabbeh is the most pastoral of Afghan rugs — traditionally woven by nomadic families with a thick pile and a free, improvised use of colour. This multicoloured example keeps that spontaneous, tribal spirit, lifted by a silk highlight that catches the light across its softly abrashed field.
