Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A borderless all-over damask, drawn as a lattice of large ogival cartouches filled with palmettes, scrolling leaves and rosettes, running unbroken from one end of the runner to the other. The pattern is worked in silk against a wool ground, and the two fibres do the work that colour usually does: the silk reads pale ivory and pearl and sits slightly proud of the surface, while the recessed wool ground stays a soft mushroom brown. There is no border at all — the lattice simply runs off the edges.

Hand-knotted in Ghazni wool with a silk pattern. Because the contrast comes from fibre rather than dye, the rug changes character completely with the light: from one end the silk catches and the pattern leaps forward almost white; from the other it settles and the whole piece reads as quiet taupe. Photographs can only show one of those states, so expect it to look different in the room. At 91×364cm this is a long runner for a hallway or landing. The pale palette is elegant but unforgiving of marks, and silk-faced pile shows footprints, so it suits a decorative corridor better than a working one.

Ghazni wool ground with a silk pattern, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. A mixed-fibre rug needs to be treated as the more delicate of its two materials: care for this one as you would a silk rug, not a wool one.

The pale palette shows marks readily, and a silk-faced pile shades and tracks wherever it is walked on. That shading is normal and brushes back out, but in a busy corridor it will be near-constant. Use a rug pad, and consider whether a decorative hallway suits it better than a working one.

The pattern here is made of fibre, not dye. Silk and wool take light in opposite ways — silk is smooth and reflective and throws light back at you, wool is matte and scatters it — so a weaver can draw a design using two materials in almost the same tone and let the surface do the rest. Run a hand across the field and you can feel it: the silk lattice stands a little above the wool ground, because silk is finer and packs denser at the same knot count, and many weavers clip the wool marginally lower to sharpen the effect. This is why the rug will not photograph consistently and why it looks entirely different walking one way down a corridor than the other. The design itself is borderless, which is a modern choice: a classical rug frames its field, while this one lets the lattice run off all four edges so the eye reads it as a length of cloth rather than a picture.
