Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A deep crimson field divided into a column of large octagonal compartments by broad bands of salmon and cream, each band edged in dark blue and set with small hooked devices. Each compartment holds a single small stepped diamond medallion at its centre, drawn in cream, peach and navy, with a great deal of open crimson around it. Wide multi-band borders of diamond diaper in salmon, blue and cream frame the field, closing at the end with a broad panel of hooked forms. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The compartments share their walls — the band between any two belongs to both, with no crimson gap separating them — so the field reads as a continuous chain of cells rather than as separate emblems on a ground. At 78×246cm this is a runner, suited to a hallway or a landing. A deep crimson ground is among the most forgiving colours a rug can have.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

A deep crimson ground is among the most forgiving colours a rug can have and hides everyday marks well. The cream in the dividing bands and the medallions is the vulnerable colour — it is the palest thing here, and the dividing bands run right across the rug at intervals, straight through the line a foot takes down a corridor.

Look at where two octagons meet. There is no crimson between them — the broad salmon band that closes the bottom of one is the same band that opens the top of the next. The compartments share their walls, the way cells in a honeycomb do, so what runs down this rug is not a row of separate emblems spaced on a ground but a single continuous chain of enclosures, each one handing straight on to the one below it.

The consequence is that the crimson is no longer a field. On an open-ground rug the ground is continuous and the motifs sit on top of it; here every square centimetre of red is inside one compartment or another, so it reads as something held rather than something flowing. What each compartment holds is deliberately small: a single stepped diamond, perhaps a fifth of the width of the panel it sits in, with a wide margin of plain crimson all round. That restraint is the point — the drawing does not fill the space it has been given, and the emptiness inside each cell is what makes the enclosure read as an enclosure.
