Cream Triple Diamond Kazak

A cream field shaped into one large stepped diamond by blue corner spandrels, with three hooked diamond medallions stacked down its centre: a red medallion at each end holding a gold and navy star, and a gold medallion in the middle framed by blue hooks, holding a red and navy star. The whole cream diamond is edged with rows of small red hooks, and small motifs — rings, crosses, chevrons and little figures — are scattered between the medallions. The blue corners carry red hooked crosses and small cream triangles. A wide red border of diagonal hooked bars in blue, cream and green runs between gold and blue guard stripes, closed by a plain cream outer band and a short fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The two outer medallions are red with gold stars, while the middle one reverses the scheme — a gold ground with a red star, framed in blue rather than red — so the centre of the rug is marked by a change of colour, not just position. At 65×93cm this is an extra small rug — a doorway, bedside or wall piece.
