A hand-woven kilim from Afghanistan, made in 100% hand-spun wool. The whole surface is built from horizontal bands — fine woven stripes alternating with rows of soumak embroidery carrying diamonds, hooks, zigzags and small paired motifs in caramel, rust, indigo, cream and gold, with four broader gold bands set at intervals down the centre panel.
The panel is framed by concentric bands rather than a single wide border, and the piece finishes at both ends with plain caramel and indigo stripes before the ivory fringe. Being a flatweave it is thin, light and reversible. A one-of-a-kind piece.
