A soft camel field carrying a single column of stepped diamond medallions, each built from concentric bands in dusty rose, cream, brown and black around a small central rosette. Small candelabra devices stand at both field edges, set opposite the gaps between the medallions rather than opposite the medallions themselves. Wide multi-band borders of diamond diaper in rose, cream and brown frame the field, closing at each end with a band of scrolling forms. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The rug runs two rhythms at once — the medallions down the centre and the edge devices along the sides — offset by half a step so they interlock rather than line up. At 76×217cm this is a runner, suited to a hallway or a landing. A mid-toned camel ground sits at the warmer, paler end and will show marks more readily than a dark rug.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

A camel ground sits at the paler, warmer end of the range and is less forgiving than a red or dark rug — the open areas either side of the medallions have little pattern to disguise a mark, and vacuum tracks show more readily across them.

There are two separate rhythms running down this rug and they are deliberately out of step. The first is obvious: a single column of stepped diamond medallions marching down the centre, evenly spaced. The second is easy to miss — a row of small candelabra devices standing against each field edge. Look at where they sit and you will find they are not beside the medallions at all. Each one lines up with the gap between two medallions.

Offsetting the two by half a step is what keeps the field from reading as a simple ladder. Had the edge devices sat level with the medallions, every horizontal line across the rug would carry three things at once and the eye would step down the rug in discrete rungs. As drawn, something is always happening on one side or the other, and the eye is carried along continuously instead of stopping at each row — which is exactly what you want from a rug that is walked down rather than stood on. Put a finger on any medallion and slide it sideways to the border: you will land in a gap.
