Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

An apricot field carrying a single narrow column of stepped Turkmen güls, each serrated at the edges and filled with hooked devices in rose, cream, grey and black around a small cream cross. Large serrated triangles project inward from both field edges between them. The borders are very wide for the size of the rug — band after band of hooked devices, diamonds and small repeats in rose, camel, cream and black — and a broad diamond panel closes the end. The weaver's signature is written on the plain apricot band below the border. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool with silk. This is the Yamoud format, in which the field is drawn narrow to carry a single file of güls and the borders are widened until they take up nearly as much of the rug as the field does. It is also signed — unusually, straight onto the open ground rather than inside a cartouche. At 60×174cm this is a small rug, suited to a bedside, an entrance or a galley kitchen.

Hand-knotted from wool with silk, with a natural fringe at both ends. The silk carries the highlights inside the güls and along the border bands, and it is what gives the apricot ground its shift in tone as you move past it. It also means the rug must be treated as a silk piece rather than a wool one for cleaning.

Wool and silk shrink at different rates, so this rug should never be washed, steamed or shampooed — any deep clean is a job for a specialist in mixed-fibre rugs. The signature is written directly on the open ground at the lower left with no border protecting it, and open ground is where abrasion shows most, so that corner deserves particular care.

This rug is signed, and where the signature sits is the interesting part. On the small number of Turkmen-tradition rugs that carry a name at all, the name is almost always enclosed: set inside a woven cartouche, or boxed into a reserve in the outer border, framed off from the design like a maker's plate screwed to a piece of furniture. Here there is no frame at all. The script runs straight across the plain apricot band below the last border, on open ground, at a size and angle that read much more like handwriting than like ornament.

That is a different gesture. A cartouche is a workshop's mark — a device planned into the cartoon before weaving began, occupying a space set aside for it. Writing on the open ground is closer to what a painter does at the edge of a canvas: it treats the rug as a finished thing being claimed afterwards rather than as a product being labelled. Whether that reflects a single weaver rather than a workshop is not something the rug itself can tell you, but the informality is real and it is visible at a glance. We have not attempted a transcription of the name — it is legible as writing but a guessed reading would be worse than none.
