A plain peach field framed by a loose border of small hand-drawn shapes: squares set inside squares, circles, ovals, leaf shapes, wavy lines and short dashes, scattered freely around all four sides. The centre is left completely open, and the rug is finished with a short fringe.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool. The shapes are spaced unevenly and no two are quite the same, so the border feels playful and relaxed rather than formal. At 188×271cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use in living and dining rooms.

A plain light field shows marks, traffic paths and pile shading more readily than a fully patterned rug. Turning it from time to time helps it wear evenly.

This rug turns the usual layout around. Instead of a patterned field inside a formal border, the whole centre is left plain peach, and the decoration lives only around the edges. Look at the border closely and you will see it is not a repeating band at all: it is a loose scatter of small shapes, squares inside squares, circles, leaves, wavy lines and dashes, placed by eye rather than by a fixed pattern. The spacing changes as you move around the rug and no two shapes are exactly alike, which gives it a light, playful feel. From across the room it reads as a calm open field with a lively frame; up close, each little shape shows the hand that knotted it. It suits a modern living or dining room.

Shipping is free on orders of ¥150,000 or more (approx. $1,000 / £790 / €920); orders below that ship at a ¥15,000 flat rate (approx. $99 / £79 / €92). Each rug is carefully rolled and wrapped. Orders are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days, then take 7 to 15 business days in transit. Every order ships with tracking. Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
