Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

An Afghani Sherwan rug in deep red, worked with the bold, angular tribal medallions and geometric motifs that define the Sherwan tradition. The rich, warm palette and generous size make it a grounding centrepiece for a living or dining room.

Hand-knotted from 100% hand-spun wool on a cotton foundation, with a robust, hard-wearing pile. The wool's natural lanolin gives a soft sheen and helps resist everyday soiling, and gentle variation in the hand-dyed tones marks it as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

Sherwan rugs, woven by Afghan tribal weavers, are known for their bold angular medallions and strong geometric borders. This example renders that confident tribal vocabulary on a deep red ground — the classic Sherwan palette — with ivory and dark accents drawing out the geometry of the field and borders.
