Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

Bands of natural, hand-spun wool stack the length of this rug — soft sand and beige at one end, deepening through taupe and dusty mauve-brown into a warm olive-gold, then closing with a single band of coral at the foot. There is no motif or border; the colour itself is the design, shifting tone by tone the way light moves across open ground.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense, soft underfoot, and naturally resistant to everyday wear. The earthy palette with its one warm flash of coral makes it a quietly modern piece, and the gentle striations of the weave mark it as a genuine one-of-a-kind rug.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

Gabbeh weaving is the most pared-back of the tribal traditions, and this rug takes that simplicity to its logical end: pure colour, no pattern. The weaver has stacked natural, hand-spun wool into broad horizontal bands — sand, taupe, mauve-brown and olive-gold — then anchored one end with a single band of coral for contrast. Because each strand is hand-spun and naturally dyed, the bands are never perfectly even; those soft striations are the fingerprint of a handmade piece, the trace of a single maker rather than a machine.
