A soft peach field gives this fine Persian Nain a warm, romantic glow, setting off a finely drawn blue-and-ivory medallion at its centre, wreathed in scrolling Shah Abbasi palmettes, blossoms and vines in powder-blue, navy, cream and soft camel. The gentle blush ground is a rare and pretty change from the classic ivory, all framed by an ivory-and-navy border of flowering arabesques and a powder-blue guard.

Nain rugs are prized for their exceptional fineness — knotted at very high density from soft, hand-spun wool, which gives crisp definition to every curling leaf and flower. The gentle palette lends a quiet luxury that suits both traditional and contemporary rooms. Coloured with natural dyes and worked entirely by hand over many months, it carries the subtle irregularities of a true one-of-a-kind piece — an heirloom to be handed down for generations.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum gently on low suction without a rotating brush, and avoid the fringes.
  • Use a rug pad underneath to cushion the pile and prevent slipping.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the natural-dyed colours.
  • Use only a specialist hand-wash rug cleaner for any deep clean.

The rugs of Nain, from the desert-edge city in central Persia, are counted among the finest in the world — famed for their gossamer knotting and flowing ‘Shah Abbasi’ florals. This unusual and pretty example glows on a soft peach field, with a finely drawn blue-and-ivory medallion at its heart, wreathed in palmettes, blossoms and curling vines in powder-blue, navy, cream and soft camel. Hand-knotted from fine, hand-spun wool and coloured with natural dyes, it is a genuine one-of-a-kind — a warm, elegant heirloom.
