A bright red Nain rug with a large oval field at its heart, holding a round rosette medallion with small pendants above and below. Scrolling vines, palmettes and blossoms in the flowing Shah Abbasi style fill the oval in perfect mirror image, and its edge is traced with a fine serrated outline. Small palmette corner pieces sit outside the oval, and a wide border of flowering arabesques and rosettes, between slim guard stripes, completes the design.

Hand-knotted in Nain, central Iran, in fine wool. At 197×300cm (about 4.5 tatami) this is a large rug, well suited to a living room, a dining room or a bedroom.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Nain, Iran. Fine wool is naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a gentle sheen and a natural resistance to everyday dirt.

The rugs of Nain, woven in the old desert city of the same name in central Iran, are counted among the finest Persian rugs, admired for their dense, precise knotting and graceful drawing. This piece uses a striking oval layout: the main field is shaped as one large oval, like a mirror set in a frame, with a round rosette medallion at its centre and small pendants reaching up and down. Inside the oval, scrolling vines, palmettes and blossoms in the flowing Shah Abbasi style are mirrored with great precision, and the oval's edge is traced with a fine serrated outline that makes it seem to glow. Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
