A single column of seven butterfly güls runs down the centre of this Indigo rug, each a winged lozenge with serrated edges, drawn in warm tones with lighter outlines. Small flowering sprigs stand on either side between the güls, and a main border of octagonal güls in alternating compartments, narrow diamond guard stripes and wide diamond-lattice end panels frame the field.

Hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool, with a short, dense pile that keeps the small motifs crisp; a woven signature cartouche sits in one corner. An Extra Small rug at 77×120cm, it suits an entryway or a bedside.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Pakistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use, including busy spots like an entrance.

A deep, dark ground like this hides everyday marks well but shows light dust and fluff sooner than a pale rug, so a regular light vacuum keeps it looking crisp; the pile also looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

The field is a classic single-column Bokhara layout with the butterfly gül. Seven güls run down the centre, each a lozenge with serrated wings spreading to either side so it reads like a moth at rest, drawn in warm tones with a lighter outline and a small cross at the heart. Between them, small flowering sprigs stand along both sides of the field and keep the dark ground from feeling empty. The main border is a row of octagonal güls set in alternating light and dark compartments with stepped edges, flanked by narrow guard stripes of tiny diamonds, and a wide panel filled with a diamond lattice closes each end; a woven signature cartouche sits in one corner. From across the room the column of güls glows against the deep ground; up close the fine knotting shows in the small details. It suits an entrance or a bedside.
