A finely hand-knotted double-knot rug from Pakistan, woven in 100% wool on a cotton foundation in the Afshan all-over floral design. The cream-gold field carries a continuous scrolling vine running from edge to edge with no central medallion, hung with palmettes, multi-petal rosettes and small serrated leaves in teal green, coral, soft brown and ivory.

A wide camel-tan main border of palmettes and flowering vine frames the field, stepped out through several narrow guard stripes in the same palette. A one-of-a-kind piece.

Afshan means scattered in Persian, and it describes a field with no centre: instead of building towards a medallion, the vine simply runs, carrying flowers and leaves evenly across the whole surface so that no part of the rug asks for more attention than any other. It is a quietly practical design as well as a beautiful one, since a rug without a medallion can be placed under furniture, walked across at any angle or turned end for end without ever looking wrong. Here the cream-gold ground keeps the dense drawing light, and the teal green running through the flowerheads is what gives the piece its freshness against the warm camel border. Woven in Pakistan on the double knot, the denser of the two knots used there, which is what lets the vine hold this level of detail.

We ship from Japan to the United States, the United Kingdom and 19 European countries. Shipping is free on orders of ¥150,000 or more (approx. $1,000 / £790 / €920); orders below that ship at a ¥15,000 flat rate (approx. $99 / £79 / €92). Each rug is carefully rolled and wrapped. Orders are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days, then take 7 to 15 business days in transit. Every order ships with tracking. Import duties and taxes may apply in your country; please contact us before ordering for details.

Returns
For a change of mind, contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer and can be expensive from outside Japan, so please ask us about size or colour before you order. If your rug arrives damaged, defective or not as ordered, contact us with photos within 30 days of delivery: we pay for the return and send a replacement or a full refund.
