Pakistani double knot

60 Rugs

Hand-knotted rugs woven in the Pakistani double-knot tradition. Double knotting packs more knots into the same area, which allows much finer drawing than a standard weave can hold: curved stems, small rosettes and detailed palmettes all stay crisp. The designs follow Persian and European sources, including Tabriz mahi, Afshan, Shah Abbasi, Gol Farang and Herati. Several pieces are woven in wool and silk, and one is pure silk. Each rug is one of a kind.
