A deep crimson field carrying a staggered grid of flattened hexagonal güls in cream, salmon and navy, each holding a single cream oval at its centre, with smaller radiating star devices set in the gaps between them. Wide multi-band borders of diamond diaper, hooked repeats and small güls in cream, salmon and navy frame the field, closing at each end with a broad panel. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The whole rug is made from two colour families — measured, ninety-eight per cent of the surface is either the crimson or the cream-and-salmon that draws on it — yet the field is about half covered in ornament. At 197×252cm this is a large room rug, suited to a living or dining room. A deep crimson ground is among the most forgiving colours a rug can have.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which matters on a room rug of this size that will carry furniture as well as traffic.

A deep crimson ground is among the most forgiving colours a rug can have, and with the field about half covered in pattern there is little open ground for a mark to show against — a practical rug for a busy room. The cream is the colour that will grey first, and it is what separates one gül from the next.

Look inside one of the güls. Where this emblem is often quartered — divided by a cross into four compartments, each packed with its own hooked device — here the interior is built around a single upright cream oval at the centre, with only a few small flanking lozenges either side of it. The oval is what you see; everything else in the cell is subordinate to it, and the same arrangement repeats in every gül on the rug.

That restraint is what lets the rest of the design work as hard as it does. Measured, ninety-eight per cent of the whole rug falls into just two colour families, and yet the field is about half covered in drawing — güls in staggered rows with small radiating stars filling every gap between them. A heavily quartered gül at this density and this palette would turn into noise; one built around a single strong centre stays legible, so the weaver could pack them tighter and add the stars as well. It is a trade made deliberately: detail given up inside each emblem, and spent instead on how many of them the field can hold.
