Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A sand-coloured rug with a soft floral ogee design: rows of pointed, onion-shaped frames drawn in fine scrolling lines are set across the field, each holding a tulip-like bloom with spreading leaves. Between the frames, trailing vines, small flowers and leaf sprays fill the ground, and the pattern runs to the edges with only a narrow plain band at the ends.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool and silk. The motifs are drawn in tones close to the ground, so the design reads as a quiet, textured surface, and the silk adds a gentle sheen to the pattern. At 199×292cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: Wool and silk pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. The wool gives strength and body to the ground, and the silk adds sheen to the pattern.

Silk is more delicate than wool and can show pressure marks and changes of light more readily, and the pile looks lighter or darker depending on the direction it is brushed.

This design is built on the ogee, a pointed, onion-dome shape that has framed flowers in textiles for centuries. Here the frames are drawn with delicate scrolling lines and set in staggered rows, and inside each one sits a stylised tulip with leaves spreading from its base. The spaces between the frames are filled with trailing vines, small blossoms and long feathery leaves, so the whole field feels like a softly overgrown garden. Because the motifs are worked in tones close to the ground, the rug looks calm and even from a distance, and the pattern only comes forward as you approach, with the silk catching the light along the lines and petals. There is no heavy border. It suits a quiet, elegant living or dining room.
