Rug material

Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A camel rug laid out in five long bands that run the full length of the rug, alternating darker and lighter camel. Where the bands meet, the edges are stepped and slightly ragged rather than straight, and the whole surface is covered with short dash marks in a slightly lighter or darker tone, set in loose rows.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool. There is no border and no central motif: from a distance the rug reads as soft lengthwise stripes, and up close the dashes give the pile a fine, textured surface. At 199×300cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use in living and dining rooms.

The lighter camel bands will show marks and traffic paths sooner than the darker ones. Turning the rug from time to time helps it wear evenly.

This rug is built from just two tones of one colour. Five long bands run from end to end, alternating darker and lighter camel, so the design is carried by light and shade rather than by pattern. Look at where the bands meet: the edges step in and out instead of running straight, which keeps the stripes from looking rigid. Across the whole surface, short dashes in a slightly different tone are set in loose rows, giving the pile a fine, almost woven texture. From across the room the rug reads as calm lengthwise stripes that make a space feel longer; up close, the dashes and stepped edges show that every part was knotted by hand. With no border, it suits a modern living or dining room.
