A cocoa brown rug with no pattern: a single warm colour fills the whole surface, broken only by fine flecks and streaks of lighter and darker tone that give it a soft, heathered look, like a tweed fabric. There is no border and no motif.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan in wool. The flecked texture comes from natural variation in the yarn, which keeps the large plain surface lively and helps it hide everyday wear. At 196×293cm this is a large rug for a living room or dining room.

Material: 100 percent wool pile, hand-knotted in Afghanistan. Wool is naturally resilient and hard-wearing, and the pile is made for everyday use in living and dining rooms.

A deep, earthy tone like this hides everyday marks well, but the plain surface shows the pile direction, so it can look lighter or darker depending on how it is brushed, and strong sunlight can fade it unevenly.

With no pattern at all, this rug is about colour and texture. The pile is a warm, even brown, but up close it is full of tiny flecks and short streaks in slightly lighter and darker tones, which together create a heathered effect much like a tweed or a woollen blanket. This natural variation comes from the yarn itself, and it gives the surface depth and a gentle shimmer as the light moves across it. Because there are no motifs to compete with, the rug works as a quiet foundation for a room: it sits comfortably under wooden furniture, leather sofas and natural fabrics, and lets cushions, art or plants provide the accents. It suits a modern or natural living or dining room that wants warmth underfoot without any visual noise.
